February, 26th, Moscow, Russia – The Hare, Polar Bear and Leopard have been chosen as the official Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games mascots following the results of a public vote during the live television show "Talismaniya Sochi 2014 - The Final” on Channel One. The Ray of Light and the Snowflake will be the Paralympic Winter Games mascots in 2014.

Today, at 21:30 MKT (19.30 CET), precisely three years before the Games open, a television programme will be screened on Channel One Russia, presenting the mascot designs for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games which have been shortlisted for a national vote by an expert panel of judges from more than 24,000 entries. 

During the meeting of the Sochi 2014 jury of experts, the results of the first selection round for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games mascot ideas were presented and a short list of design ideas was created.

Sunday 5th December will see the close of the period for submitting entries to the national competition to Design a Mascot for the 2014 Sochi Games. The total number of drawings published on the official competition site now exceeds 18,000 and the competition site has been visited by over 1.2m in total since 1st September.

October 5, 2010, Moscow – The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee has today announced that the mascot competition for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi is now accepting international entries.

A number of Sochi 2014 Ambassadors, renowned Russian athletes and celebrities, have proposed their ideas for the Sochi 2014 mascot to inspire people across Russia to enter the recently launched mascot competition for the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Lessons on Olympic and Paralympic values and the history of Olympic Mascots were today held in schools across the Russia to mark the start of the Sochi 2014 Mascot competition.

On 1 September 2010, the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee will open a Russian national competition to design a Mascot for the 2014 Sochi Olympic and Paralympic Games
